Consciousness has an essentially subjective character, because perception is different for everyone. How it feels to see the color red - one can only imagine what experiences like this are like for others and how each is perceived in turn. Shared experiences cannot truly be shared at all – only overlaps in our perception of them. An unsettling truth, that speaks to sensory isolation from others.
